Meet Our Office Team
Eric W. Bates
Director of Sales/Owner
Eric has worked in the propane industry for almost 25 years in a variety of roles. He got his start as an account manager for a national propane supplier. Some of his other roles in the industry have included senior account manager, regional sales manager, director of sales, national accounts manager, business development manager, director of strategic accounts, and national director.
He serves on the board of the Arizona Propane Gas Association and the Propane Education and Research Council’s Autogas Project Committee.
Outside of the propane world, Eric is an avid golfer, loves old cars, and is the proud owner of two beautiful huskies, Teeco and Timber.
Rick Gilman
Director of Operations/Owner
Rick has 30+ years of successful experience in hands-on leadership, sales, operations, acquisitions, and business development. He served as president and owner of Legacy Propane for six years. Following that, he continued his work in the propane industry as a branch manager until the inception of Canyon State Propane.
In his spare time, Rick loves traveling with his family, meeting new people, and hanging out with his awesome Irish Jack Russell terrier, Woody.
Marie Welling
Director of Everything Else/Owner
Marie has been in the business world for 25+ years. She thrives when it comes to running an efficient office and having fun at the same time. She’s excited to be part of the Canyon State Propane team and hopes to make each customer feel like family!
When Marie is not running the office, she loves snow skiing, teaching Jazzercise, and spending time with her red labradoodle, Stella.
